This just in … a new update to MAME 0.122. This one brings with it 26 more MAMETesters bugfixes and a lot of nice driver cleanups. We’ll probably stay on 0.122 until the end of bugfix month, and wrap it up with a 0.123 sometime around the 11th anniversary….

[Arcade MAME] MAMEUI v0.122.6

MameUI [previously Mame32] is the GUI version of the M.ultiple A.rcade M.achine E.mulator, a program which seeks to document the internal hardware and code of all arcade games.  Originally authored in 1997 by Chris Kirmse, it was the first port of Mame™ to the Windows platform.  MameUI is currently maintained by team members: Kirmse, Mike Haaland, Rene Single, and John L. Hardy IV.

[Arcade FrontEnd] Emu Loader v5.2
Emu Loader ist ein multi Arcade Frontend fur Windows.

 

   Updates, updates, updates. This front-end is so full of bugs that even I am getting scared...
More fixes and a editor for left panel filters (located in the new "Left Panel" main menu). You can create new filters or edit an existing one. Starting from this build, merged sets will be supported only for MAME. No more zipped images support. I'm sorry for this bug I want to add support for multi-images viewing and dealing with zipped files is a pain in the ass...
   Great news is the addition of a new emulator: "Another Arcade Emulator" (AAE). Vector games never looked so good!!! Website: http://pages.suddenlink.net/aae/ :-))
No support for custom game settings since you can do that directly into the emulator. Make sure to download the ClrMAMEPro .dat file for this emulator from Logiqx website. More info in the changelog.

  • Marcel van Tongeren is creating a COMX emulator in the C++ language based on the COSMAC ELF emulator written by Mike Riley, with some help from me. Version 0.9.9l of the emulator can be downloaded here or by clicking on one of the COMX screens above. Work is ongoing so keep checking this page for the latest release.     Just a quick release before my life's greatest emulator project kicks in. This version adds preliminary support for some effects that double the vertical resolution of the plus/4 by scanline interleaving. While the effect itself has been considered possible since around 1993, it has not been explored further until recently. Here's the - very short - list of changes:
    • support for true interlace
    • more new icons from Chronos
    • couple of bugfixes
    Obviously, true interlace will only work properly on the 'Very high accuracy' emulation level and in double sized window modes. Get the new Yape from here.

    Putting the clocks forward.

    The clockspeed of the PSX based games in MAME has always been a little on the low side.
    Mainly to make up for the lack of cache emulation and bus contention, also partly because the GTE timing isn’t emulated yet.

    Due to the recent attention to crystals, there has been some investigation as to what the real clock speed should be.

    Thanks to Guru’s probing we are able to say for definate what is going on.

    The CPU has an internal divider and on the majority of boards is fed a 67.7376mhz clock. I have currently got MAME to report this frequency, with an internal divider of 4 to keep it roughly the same as before ( it should be 2 but I’ll leave that until the rest of the timing issues are sorted ).

    Some information has been floating around for a while that has never been confirmed & now seems to be a good time. The 67mhz clock doesn’t appear on the namco system 12 or the later system 10 boards. It appears they have their own higher rated part. System 12 runs on a 100mhz clock, while system 10 runs on a 101.4912mhz clock. So system 12 being faster has been elevated from rumour, to probable.

    The GPU clock is the same across all hardware. I’d have thought they’d have done something about that, especially as all the system 12 games like to run in interlace. Maybe it’s more efficient or has faster ram, we’ll leave that one for another day.

    Install directions:

    - Copy in /PSP/GAME (user mode build) or /PSP/GAME150 (firmware 1.5 compatibility for 3.xx OE release);
    There are two different builds in archive:
    1) 1.50 Kernel mode (psp_uae4all_r1);
    2) 2.00 User mode (psp_uae4all_r1-usermode);
    Use psp_uae4all_r1 as installation base, then replace EBOOT.PBP if you have slim psp or would use user mode build;
    - Copy kickstart file named kick.rom of version 1.3 in same folder;
    - Copy desidered disks images as .adf or .adf.gz (.adz) compressed format into disks folder, for convenience;

    Specific Features:

    - Based on latest Chui’s Dreamcast UAE4ALL and notaz’s uae4all gp2x v0.7.2a optimized blitter routines;
    - Maximum speedup hacks using single precision math hardware support;
    - full screen hardware scaled support;
    - Fixed Overclock to 333 MHz while emulating, 222 MHz in menu;

    You can compress your ADF floppy images with GZIP compression utility in order to save CD space. GZIP is free and multiplatform: Windows, GNU/Linux, MacOS … better use short filenames to read correctly disks numbers.

    - Save disks changes to VM
    UAE4ALL can save to VM disk sectors changed using ZIP compression. For games as Dune2, now you can save your campaigns and continue at future. A new menu option called “Save Disks” has added for enable or disable this feature.

    - 2 floppy drives emulted
    You can choose on filemanager a new disk for DF0 with Cross(X) button and a new disk for DF1 with Square([]) button. Also, you can eject DF1 with ‘Eject DF1′ option or pressing Triangle button while in menu.

    - Throttle
    Amiga is a hard machine to emulate. So, a lot of games support drawing shortcuts and cpu timeslice ampler. These methods speed up emulation and improve playbility under PSP.

    - Autoframeskip
    Unfortunately, UAE4ALL needs frameskipping for real time emulation. Active auto-frameskip menu option for real speed.
    If you want sound, it’s a very important thing, the sound needs to be synchronous

    - Mouse
    Some on loading game demo requires specific mouse buttons combo, so try both buttons and movements while in such menu’s or demo.

    Specific Controls:

    - Button SELECT: Main Menu.
    - Button START: not used.
    - Button HOME: not used (exit, as normal, in user mode build).
    - Buttons L+R: Deactivate SuperThrottle mode.
    - Buttons L+R while keep pressing: Activate SuperThrottle mode (10x emulation velocity).
    - Button Cross(X): used to confirm menu options, to select 1st disk, DF0, in load menu and as 1st mouse button.
    - Button Circle(O): used as 2nd mouse button, as secondary joystick button and as go back in menus.
    - Button Square([]): used to open load disks menu while in main menu, used to select 2nd disk, DF1, in load disks menu.
    - Button Triangle(/\): used to eject DF1 and as primary joystick button.
    - Button L: in Main menu Run emulation, in load menu go top of list.
    - Button R: in Main menu Reset and Run emulation, in load menu go to bottom of list.
    - Directional Buttons: emulate mouse movements.
    - Analog stick: emulate joystick movements.

    Known Problems:

    - Keyboard emulation unimplemented.

    I've modified Ziggy's RSP plugin a bit and managed to get further in World Driver Championship and Stunt Racer 64. These games are playable now, geometry is perfect. There's some texture corruption, though.
    What did I modify:
    - switched the plugin back to interpreter, as it was in MAME
    - added RSP interrupt handling in cases when interrupt is triggered by MTC0, which Ziggy omitted (dunno why)
    - I force the plugin to exit an infinite loop which it enters because of Zilmar's RSP spec's drawback. The spec doesn't allow CPU to write into signal flags while RSP operates. As you may have thought, it is a dirty game-specific hack.
    - added Mooglyguy's opcode fixes for VRCP, VRCPH, VRCPL, VRSQL and VRSQH.

    Required configuration:
    Emulator: Project64 1.5
    Sound plugin: Jabo's plugin bundled with Project64 1.5
    Graphics plugin: z64gl r17 properly set up (don't ask how, it was explained many times)
    It's settings in z64gl.conf: hires_fb=1, threaded=1, async=1
    RSP plugin: RSP.DLL, the build I've attached. Put it into plugin directory and overwrite any other RSP.DLL.
    World driver championship also requires the following. While in rom browser right-click on this game, select "Edit game settings" and set "CPU Core Style" field to Interpreter.


    Version history:
    Version 1: some 3D in World Driver Championship.
    Version 2: both games are playable using the aforementioned configuration.
    Version 3: 80% speed boost (still very slow). Now it's hopefully safe to use this plugin with other games, besides these two (still it's not recommended).

    Multi-Poker

    Not a lot of new changes to report. I added support for a new superboard romset (pexmp006) entitled "Player's Edge Plus (XMP00006) Multi-Poker".

    This romset uncovered a few memory locations in the DUART space that were not accounted for in the code, so I adjusted the driver accordingly. The changes are mostly for completeness at this point, since the driver does not currently support the DUART functionality (Network Slot Accounting System).

    This particular game is really 5 games in one. It has a main menu that lets the user choose which of the five games they wish to play. Once in a specific game they can return to the main menu via the fifth Hold button.

    This particular game has quite a few new screens in the operator mode. I have attached a sampling of pictures throughout this post.

    Ну вот, первое обновление эмулятора после выхода финальной версии Nescube. Причиной появления новой версии послужило выявление некоторых неприятных глюков, а так же желание добавить в эмулятор новые возможности. Более подробное описание читайте в файловом архиве.     P.S. Выражаю благодарность всем людям, обнаружившим и сообщившим мне о найденых глюках, а так же тем, кто не остается равнодушным к данному проекту!

    ScummVM. Do you hear it? Do you smell a new version? It's now here. And as usual and regularly, it is packed with tons of new features. Hold on, and take a look at the list:

    • Support for the FREEWARE adventure Lure of the Temptress (available for download here)
    • Seven other new supported games: I Have no Mouth, and I Must Scream, Elvira 1 and 2, Waxworks (Amiga version only) and 3 Sierra pre-AGI games for children
    • Two newly available ports: iPhone and Maemo
    • Support for the Mac version of The Legend of Kyrandia and the Amiga version of Nippon Safes
    • Better support for Sierra AGI games
    • Improved support for modern 64-bit systems
    • Support for FLAC encoded music in Broken Sword 1 for the purists among you
    • Better support for non-English versions of games, including eastern languages
    • Sound compression for SAGA games

    Unfortunately, PlayStation 2 and GP32 ports will not be released with this version, since we don't have any maintainers for these ports currently.
